I know, for those of you that follow the blog exclusively, it probably seems like it’s been a super long time since I’ve written anything. I assure you that is not the case. The logistics of the podcast are most definitely in limbo right now, but my written content has been on full blast.

If you haven’t, you should follow me on all social media platforms. Through my Facebook and Twitter pages, I share all of the written works I do for MMOExaminer and MMOsite. Anything I have to say about a recent event in the industry, or anything remotely close, can be found there. So please check those out.

So don’t worry, if you still miss my sweet writer’s voice, best believe you’ll be able to find everything you need on these two pages. So for more on what we’ve been up to, and any updates on the podcast, please stay tuned for more from the GAME ROOM!!!

As our summer nears its end here on the Game Room, I just want to thank you all for being part of such a brilliant experience with me. From starting the new site to our live E3 coverage, to our weekly podcast discussions, those of you that have supported this site and its growth are irreplaceable.

I return to campus next week, and I have a lot of big ideas on the way. I’ll start giving official announcements when we get closer to those times.

I stated earlier in the month that my aim was to complete five new games this summer and I managed to do just that. Regular reviews should start up again on a biweekly basis when I’m back on campus, and in the meantime, I’ll still be writing content on MMOExaminer. At the end of the month, I have another huge announcement, so be excited about that everyone!

Also, if you haven’t been keeping up with the podcast, head on over to the page and check that out! The format of the podcast will change in coming weeks, so more on that soon too. The above episode is my favorite that we’ve done so far.

In the meantime, thank you all for reading and come back soon for more from the GAME ROOM!!!

I know this isn’t a game, but nerd media can kind of be interchangeable, right? So Bleach is a manga that is sort of near and dear to me. I’ve been following it for probably close to ten years now, and while I haven’t always loved the plot direction, it is something to see it coming to an end.

I get a lot of flack for this, because it’s not a popular opinion, but I am a man of strong narrative, as I’m sure I’ve demonstrated on this site. For this reason, while stories like Dragon Ball Z resonated with me as a child, as an adult I find them ridiculous and bad. I think Dragon Ball Z is the example I use because it’s probably the biggest culprit of this style of writing.

But I don’t want to get off topic, if you want my opinion on DBZ I can write a separate post for that on another day. But Bleach is a story that I’ve had an incredibly hot/cold relationship with. I found the first several seasons to be golden. They had a good cast with a lot of chemistry. The battles were epic, the weapons were well designed. It wasn’t the deepest story in the world, but it was good and consistent and a fun ride.

From this I mean the first arc all the way up to Hueco Mundo. Everything had lore and backstory and mystery. Then Ichigo confronts Ulquiorra, and from there the story takes a dive and doesn’t stop until it hits the core of the planet. Deus Ex Machina has been the name of the game since Ichigo’s fight with Byakuya, but never in a way that feels so disgusting and unfair.

From there, Aizen claims to be this omnipotent all-knowing mind and the story just collapses. It’s kind of atrocious. Now the following arcs aren’t even worth mentioning, with the exception of the last 10 chapters or so. Ichigo is fighting the true main villain, Ywach, and all of a sudden we’re watching this philosophical bout unfold in a way that is brand new to this narrative.

I’m so impressed, and I’m excited to see where the final chapter goes!

That’s all I have to say about Bleach right now, but thank you all for tuning in. I know it’s been scarce with the posts lately, but writing for so many other sites really does take up a lot of my time. Regardless, this is something. And I’ve also been continuously doing the podcast, so if you’ve missed that make sure to head over to that section of the site to catch up on what you’ve missed! A lot of good discussion there!

In the mean time, thank you all for reading and come back soon for more from the GAME ROOM!!!

Hey Game Roomies!

I know it’s been a drought this week. I’m a bit under the weather, and combining that with a lot of my work, it’s been a bit harder to post as consistently. But I still have been writing all week on MMOExaminer, so I figured I’d send you guys in that direction. I know a bit more reviewed content would be ideal, and I’m working on finding a way to make that happen.

In the mean time, here are some of the important articles I wrote this week.

This article is about Overwatch and its new sniper hero. There’s a comic for her already!

This is a RetroNight article where I do a light review of Mega Man X.

This article comes with some patch notes for Hearthstone with the new recruitment feature.

This article is about a game I’ve been playing lately called Furi. This isn’t a full review, just first impressions. I’m going to write a review for it here on the game room this week. That’s a promise.

So that’s four of my most important articles this week. I want to write some original content on here and plan to do so relatively soon. In the mean time, I need to get some rest! Thank you all for reading and come back soon for more from the GAME ROOM!!!

This is my favorite part of every week! Hello, Game Roomies!

I want to talk a little bit about what things have been like this week. Things are starting to shift again, and so the posting schedule might start to become more frequent soon. I can’t confirm anything yet.

I’m setting a few new projects in motion, so I’m excited to make some announcements in the coming weeks.

I’ve started playing Gone Home and so far, I’m loving it. This game is legit. It’s already tackling some interesting social themes, which I’m always a fan of.

MatPat said something during his final livestream of Life Is Strange that I keep in the back of my mind. He said, “It’s great to see video games telling stories that matter.”

I couldn’t agree more! We’re in a new stage, people. The world has been forever changed by the advent of modern gaming. Stories are being told in a big new way. I want to be part of that aspect of the medium myself, personally. That’s why I pursued a career in Game Development. I want to be part of making those stories truly come to life for people. Every Xenoblade Chronicles, every Life Is Strange, every Fire Emblem Awakening out there that communicates with a person and let’s them know that the world is a scary place with a lot to offer. The days of classic Donkey Kong and Pacman are gone and the gaming world is headed towards something bigger.

That being said, I’d like to start doing some narrative breakdown of some of my favorite games here on the site. Maybe even address some prominent social themes that are resting within these gems.

In the mean time, thank you all for reading and come back soon for more from the GAME ROOM!!!

I’ve been keeping busy this week! With plenty of stuff going on on multiple fronts, it’s nice to finally take a Sunday and keep working just as hard. Just a little joke. Anyway, here are some of the best posts I’ve done this week on other sites.

This one, likely the most relevant to you, is about the PS Plus games for the month. Check it out, this is crucial information, people!

This is a piece about Golden Sun. You’ll enjoy this if you enjoy the game. Simple enough, right?

This piece is about Donkey Kong 64. I know I said I had mixed feelings about the game in my last podcast, but you know.

Super Mario RPG: Legend Of The Seven Stars is on the Wii U Virtual Console! I wrote about that game, because it’s an old time favorite of mine.

Finally, I wrote about The Legend Of Zelda: Majora’s Mask. This game is unique and interesting, so check it out.

That’s enough to read for one day, right? I’ll try and post more of these more frequently. Kills many birds with one stone. Thank you Game Roomies! Come back soon for more cool stuff from the GAME ROOM!!!

Hey guys! I’ve been saying for the past few days that due to inconsistent posting on my part, I was going to try and find a less extensive posting schedule. I currently have two active paid writing positions and one in the works. It’s been a crazy ride over the past two months. I’ve been able to really get a taste for the work that I love. I’ve been consistent on doing the podcast, and everything has just been really great.

Despite this, I know that this is really intense stuff, and that when I start school full-time again in the Fall, things are only going to continue to change. So until I can figure out something a little more concrete, here’s my idea. I will try to post on Saturdays and Sundays. I will continue to do the podcast on Wednesdays as scheduled. I will also start sharing my MMOExaminer and Press Examiner articles as regularly as possible. I’m writing full-time now. I have to start adjusting my schedule.

Truth is, I love this gig. I don’t care if one person is reading or if a thousand people are reading, if I can get my voice out there and show people that video games are the BEST creative medium on Earth, I’m happy. So whether it’s using Mustapha’s Game Room, MMOExaminer, or Press Examiner, or Penmen Press (My university newspaper) or whatever, I am going to try my best to stay consistent.

In the meantime, thanks again for reading and sticking with me so far. We’re only going up, so stay with me as we continue to grow! For more content on gaming news, reviews, and exclusive interviews, come back soon for more from the GAME ROOM!!!

Hello, Game Roomies! We had a decent time this week! I’ve been hard at work trying to create quality content, but some things have changed. Video Reviews for instance, are just not currently on my radar. I don’t really have enough good tech to make that happen.

I know I haven’t posted every day as I planned, but here’s something to supplement that! Some discussions and articles I did on MMOExaminer this week.

http://mmoexaminer.com/author/mustapharprice/

Above is my author page on the site. You can see all of the articles I’ve written here.

Some highlights? My favorites that I wrote this week are the one about Paper Mario: Color Splash where I gave commentary on the E3 2016 trailer. I’m obviously not too enthused about the game.

I’ve also started two weekly segments on MMOExaminer. For instance, “Weekly Tavern Brawl” segment based on Hearthstone’s weekly events. The other is a RetroNight, where I highlight a game of the past. This one is near and dear to me for sure, because as I’m sure you guys have realized, I’m a lover of classic titles. Sneak Peak, I’m gonna write about Earthbound for the first segment.

I also covered the tragic reception that Mighty No. 9 has been getting. Poor Inafune. Not a good time. Anyway, that’s about all for me for today, but tomorrow I plan on writing a special post. Something kind of new to the Game Room! In a sense. In the meantime, thank you all for reading and come back soon for more from the GAME ROOM!!!

Thursday feels like a weird day to do a look ahead, but I feel like it’s necessary. We’re at the end of our E3 coverage, and while we’ll be doing a wrap up/post-show for our podcast next Wednesday at 6:30pm I want to focus on what can be expected this week. Yesterday I did a review of Asura’s Wrath, and I’d like to do a few more reviews over the next few days. I’m also considering streaming some games in the coming months. If you guys have any suggestions on what you might want to see me play, I’d be down. My computer is a toaster, so I’m in the works of getting some more usable technology.

Either way, I make it work because I love what I do. As far as I’m concerned, all of the supporters I have here on the Game Room are the reason I do this. I feel like it’s my responsibility to deliver you guys some in depth, quality, and analytical content. So with that, here’s the plan for this week.

Friday: Cooldown Day (No Post)

Saturday: The End Of An Era: Paper Mario

Sunday: Designer Talk, Longevity Feat. Super Smash Bros

Monday: Most Anticipated Games From E3

Tuesday: Another List! Top 5 Action Games

Wednesday: E3 Post Show

The end! That’s what you have to look forward to, only here on the GAME ROOM!!!

Hey Game Roomies!

We really stepped out game up with this one! I’d like to show you all our new live E3 Coverage.

Check it out here!

I’m going to take a break from E3 related things for the next few days. This has been an incredibly complex deal to set up, and it’s been rather taxing, can’t lie. So I’m going to be doing some regular posts, reviews, discussions, the usual! Then we’ll dive into some post conference talk. Sound good? Good!

Thank you all for watching and reading and come back later today for more from the GAME ROOM!!!
